Over the weekend, a group of young folks got it in, in a possible impromptu flash mob in Downtown Silver Springs, Maryland. I say "possible" because it was performed on a street that had been blocked off, so it might have been a little more coordinated than what we know Flash Mobs to be. Still, kudos to them for bringing contemporary African dance to the main street.

Now excuse me as I go practice some of these moves in front of my bedroom mirror.

that street is always blocked off on weekends...the audience just made space once we started dancing (:

Hi Elodie,

Wow, that is amazing. You guys really did the damn thing. I'm curious thought how long you all been working on this routine and if you all have plans to do this again? Also are you guys part of a dance ensemble? I definitely would love to see more. Thanks for reading.

Two of the people involved had a vision for this wonderful flash mob and made it happen (:... A Facebook page was created to invite those who would be interested... We recruited who we could... We were hoping more but loved every volunteer who stuck to it. Different girls do belong to different dance groups... I believe there were a total of 4 dance groups featured. Not the entire entire groups... But the members who were willing to volunteer . I want to say it was a month from when choreography started until the actual performance. There were various practices and were all very fun :). I'm sure they'll want to organize another and hopefully you'll join us :)
